HOW TO SUBMIT FICTION
We publish up to seven works of fiction each year, including novels, short story collections, and works in translation. We have established two concentrated reading periods each year: from July 1 to September 1, and from January 15 to March 15. Inquiries received outside of these windows will not be read and may not be acknowledged.
To submit a work for consideration, please a brief synopsis of your project, a copy of your resume or CV, and the first 50 pages of your manuscript to:
Dennis Lloyd, Director
dlloyd2@wisc.edu
The synopsis should appear in the body of the email; the other materials should be submitted as Word or PDF attachments. Authors whose projects make it through this initial screening process will be invited to submit their full manuscript for internal and external review.
We are open to well-written works of literary fiction, as well as works set in Wisconsin or the Midwest. We will occasionally consider mystery novels, but we do not publish Young Adult, science fiction, fantasy, romance, or most other genre fiction. We are unable to consider free-standing novellas or works of fewer than 60,000 words in total length.
