The God Pumpers
Religion in the Electronic Age
Edited by Marshall W. Fishwick and Ray B. BrownePopular Press
Televangelism is big business, amounting to billions of dollars each year. Often, most of the money that is earned in the electronic church is spent in raising more money so that more can be spent to raise more money. The industry feeds on itself, but it also feeds on those who can least support it. Televangelists discussed are Billy Graham, Jimmy Swaggert, Jerry Falwell, Jim and Tammy Baker, Terry Cole-Whittaker, Marilyn Hickey, Danuto Rylko Soderman, and Beverly LaHaye.
