Marcia Henry was a teacher in Rochester, Minnesota, and later a professor at San Jose State University. She has lived on Madeline Island since 1996 and has written several books on reading and literacy. Sally Parsons is an illustrator who grew up in a family of artists, artisans, and teachers with ties to Madeline Island.
