Presskit for The 23rd Psalm

"This powerful memoir articulates the daily life of a Jew enslaved by the Nazis and forced to do their bidding and obey their every whim in a series of concentration camps. The graphic description of the slave's miserable condition is counterpointed to the hope of liberation, in a contemporary version of the Biblical exodus from Egypt. Paradoxically, readers will find this an account of the triumph of hope over hatred."
Murray Baumgarten, University of CaliforniaSanta Cruz and editor of Judaism: A Quarterly Journal of Jewish Life & Thought
"When Simon Dubnow, the renowned historian of European Jewry, was led away to his death, his final outcry was ‘Yidn shreibt und farshreit!’ (Jews write and record!). George Salton in his memoir, The 23rd Psalm, fulfills Dubnow’s legacy in a faithful manner, reflecting on the pains and agonies of those bitter years. This is a book to be read and passed down to our children to read."
Miles Lerman, Chairman Emeritus, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
"A powerful, searing recollection of the past, telling George Salton's story with a fierce integrity that is both descriptive and introspective. Unlike the psalmist, Salton walked through the valley in the presencenot the shadowof death, and he feared evil. Rightfully so, for God was absent and there was no comfort. Yet, he lived to tell the tale and for this we must be forever grateful."
Michael Berenbaum, author of The World Must Know and former consultant to Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation Project
George Lucius Salton emigrated to the United States after liberation. He earned degrees in physics and engineering and had a successful career in the U.S. Department of Defense and private industry. He lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
