About

Welcome to the blog of the University of Wisconsin Press. Featuring current news and commentary from UW Press authors and staff, we’re dedicated to the Wisconsin Idea: the principle that the university should improve people’s lives beyond the classroom.

About the Press

Located in Madison, Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin Press was founded in 1936, and is a publisher of books and journals. We currently have more than 1400 titles in print, including books of general interest, scholarly books, and regional books about Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. We have co-published English-language books with publishers in England, Ireland, Turkey, Italy, and Japan, and UW Press books have been translated into dozens of foreign languages. We also publish 11 peer-reviewed academic journals in the humanities, social sciences, and medicine, several of which have been us since the inception of the Journals Division in 1965.

The Press is one of more than 120 member presses in the Association of American University Presses.
