Dance
A Creative Art Experience
Margaret N. H'Doubler
With a new essay by Mary Alice Brennan

A landmark book in dance education is now back in print, its message as valid today as it was more than fifty years ago

“Dance as an art, when understood, is the province of every human being.”
—Margaret N. H'Doubler, Dance: A Creative Art Experience

“As a dance pioneer, Margaret H'Doubler combines both vision and down-to-earth practicality. It is she who established dance as a part of the college curriculum, organized the first campus performing group, and set up the first college degree program in dance.”
Dance Magazine

H'Doubler’s book is the work of a scientist of dance, and so well does she present her plea for universal dance training that she certainly deserves the full attention and respect of both parent and teacher.”
—Walter Terry

“Teachers and students of the dance will find the help to the answers of the question ‘why dance?’”
—Physical Educator

Margaret N. H'Doubler (1889–1982) was professor of dance at the University of Wisconsin, where she taught for forty-four years.
